VISIT TO THE TOCE WATERFALL AND EXCURSION BY BIKE

The physical outdoor training has always been good to relax and to have fun, if we add to this the pleasure of the discovery and the surprise in front of the power of nature… the we is really successful.
1° day: VISIT TO THE TOCE WATERFALL AND EXCURSION BY BIKE (From July to September only with good weather)
The Symbol of Val Formazza the waterfall of Toce is considered among the best and the most majestic ones in Europe.
The Hotel “Albergo Della Grande Cascata” ,which was built in 1863 on the top of the waterfall, has always been one of the favourite destinations by tourists from all over Europe. Among famous visitors we can mention the Queen Margherita of Savoy, Antonio Fogazzaro, Gabriele D’Annunzio e the King Vittorio Emanuele III.
Once arrived on the top of the waterfall of Toce we will continue by car as far as Riale where the helmets and the bikes will be given out.
The adventure starts: at our back one of the most wonderful and majestic waterfalls of the Alps surrounded by cliffs and in front of us the wild nature.
The arrival is expected at Passo San Giacomo.
At the end of the excursion we will return to Stresa where we will end up the evening with a dinner in a typical restaurant.
2° day: VISIT TO THE GLACIOLOGY PARK OF “ORRIDI DI URIEZZO” AND “MARMITTE DEI GIGANTI”
The Glaciology Park of Valle Antigorio is a unique scenario of this kind. A mix of narrow canyons, ravines and crevasses due to the water erosion.
One of the most fascinating excursions is the one to Orridi di Uriezzo.
The orridi are very deep and narrow canyons due to very ancient water subglacial erosions. During the Ice Age a very large glacier covered the area, when the glacier started to melt the water digged deep furrows.
Nowadays the canyons are dry, so it is possible to walk through them quite easily.
The “marmitte dei giganti” are the result of the erosion of water. You can see very spectacular rocks with cylindrical shapes along the Toce river. Other rocks were created when the glaciers melted and subglacial rivers were formed. These rocks are very distant from the current small rivers.
